Private tutor in West Newton, PA
Education
I received my BFA in Theatre Arts with a concentration in Musical Theatre from Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts in May 2015. There, I studied subjects such as acting, voice, voice & speech, musical theatre techniques, and dance (ballet, tap, jazz), as well as standard college classes (English composition, math, psychology, etc). I maintained a 3.89 GPA, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. I graduated from Pinckney Community High School in 2011 with a 3.9 GPA.
Experience
I took the ACT twice during my Junior year of high school, receiving a 28, then a 30. My English scores were the highest of the various subjects- at 34 and 35 out of 36, respectively. I studied voice (singing) all four years of college. I studied Meisner acting technique for a year. I also have four years of Linklater technique voice and speech training under my belt. I studied flute for seven years, also acting as my high school's drum major for two of them. I also took several years of piano lessons, and have good knowledge of music theory. Additionally, I took 3.5 years of Musical Theatre Techniques classes, where I learned the strategies an actor uses to successfully act a song, as well as interact with others onstage. I'm fluent in Latvian as well as English! I can read, speak, and write in both languages. I am also knowledgable of the International Phonetic Alphabet and how to apply it to learn dialects. Finally, I also have an interest in visual art. Though I have not taken many classes in this subject, I have been drawing and painting my entire life. I have lots of experience sketching and drawing on paper, creating multimedia collages in my art journal, and I have been using a digital format to finish many of my drawings for over 7 years. I use GIMP and a Wacom tablet for digital art.

Hobbies
Hello! My full name is Emilija, but I simply go by Emmi. I love the arts! The second I stepped onstage as a child, it was clear to me that it was where I was supposed to be. Since then, I have been stretching my creative muscles and studying to learn more about theatre and everything having to do with it. I have worked onstage as well as off- I'm also a costumer when I have the opportunity. I love working with kids. I've spent several summers as a camp counselor: once with the incredibly talented kids at Young People's Theatre of Ann Arbor, and once with the explorers and brainiacs at the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh. I also taught music to the youngest campers at Latvian Center Garezers in Three Rivers, MI. Some other facts: 1. I am a total cat lady! 2. I also currently split my time between Michigan and Pennsylvania with the occasional trip to NYC, since I'm auditioning for anything and everything I can. 3. I like baking, so if we meet in person, there is a good chance you'll get some baked goods out of it. My availability is fairly open. My schedule is relatively flexible, so contact me about what times/days work for you, and we can chat!
